Description
Drawing on the micro-credential content about trust and engagement, this session examines how trust is built through everyday interactions rather than assumed or demanded. A narrative lens invites practitioners to remain curious about meaning, context and power; to notice the effects of problem-saturated language; and to recognise the skills, values and acts of resistance already present in a person’s story.
Who it is for
Practitioners and emerging practitioners across homelessness, housing, disability, mental health, domestic and family violence, and community services.
What you will learn
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify relational practices that support trust, transparency and emotional safety.
- Use externalising and curiosity-based questions without minimising risk or responsibility.
- Notice and respond to language that narrows identity, possibility or participation.
Resources included
Narrative engagement prompts; language reflection guide; short practice vignette.
