Description
This micro-credential introduces intersectionality as the points where homelessness services and other systems meet. Responding to complexity means understanding how those intersections can either prevent homelessness or contribute to it. The focus is not on expecting homelessness workers to become experts in every system. It is on recognising housing risk, clarifying responsibilities and building a joined response that does not transfer system complexity back to the person.
Who it is for
Our micro-credentials are open to new and experienced workers, people in related services, those considering a career in the homelessness sector, and anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of homelessness responses.
What you will learn
By the completion of this micro-credential, participants will be able to:
- Recognise how homelessness intersects with housing, health, justice, education, income and community-service systems.
- Identify system gaps, transitions and hand-offs that can increase housing risk.
- Distinguish referral from shared responsibility and coordinated action.
- Select practical actions that support a person-led, cross-system response.

Each micro-credential is supported by topic-specific reading and other resources, online through CQUniversity and in the Homelessness Queensland support sessions.
