The Specialist Homelessness Services Practice Framework
Introducing the Specialist Homelessness Services Practice Framework (SHSPPF)
The Specialist Homelessness Services Professional Practice Framework & Guidelines marks a pivotal step in an era of significant reform, aligning with the Queensland Housing and Homelessness Action Plan 2021-2025 (HHAP21) and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing Action Plan 2019-2023 (ATSIHAP19). This framework underscores our commitment to fostering a unified approach to delivering impactful, client-focused services.
Regional Workshops: Co-Designing the Framework Together
We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the development of the Professional Practice Framework & Guidelines. Your valuable input during regional workshops has shaped this co-designed framework, ensuring it reflects the expertise and perspectives of Queensland’s housing and homelessness sector.
A Shared Vision for Practice
Developing a shared understanding of practice across the sector has been a challenging but rewarding journey. We listened to your insights, and together, we recognised the value of a common language and understanding. This unified approach strengthens communication, promotes consistency, and enhances collaboration across organisations and systems.
The Specialist Homelessness Services Practice Framework
Informed by extensive stakeholder consultation and enriched by the voices of individuals with lived experience, the SHSPPF represents a shift toward a person-centred, trauma-informed, and culturally safe approach to homelessness services. This framework is a cornerstone of Queensland’s strategies to end homelessness and reflects key priorities identified during the Ending Homelessness Forum.
The SHSPPF encourages the sector to embrace:
- Outcomes-based service delivery: Focusing on real and measurable impacts.
- Stronger collaboration: Working cohesively across the sector.
- Tailored client support: Providing solutions that meet the unique needs of individuals and communities.
